"“Underlying conditions” sounds an awful lot like “root causes,” which usually receive such mocking from the people Continetti calls “national security conservatives.” On the whole, however, this doesn’t sound that far removed from what Romney has been saying."

And that's always been the neocon vision as well, they just have to be careful not to sound too much like they're talking about "root causes." But when they blame terrorism on lack of freedom that's what they're saying.

"We don’t merely tolerate diversity, we embrace and celebrate it."

And of course this is Bush's line too. If the Bushites at the Standard have a problem with this coming from Huckabee, they're even more willfully blind to Bush's wooly-headedenss than I thought.

And of course the nonsense about Europe disrespecting its Muslim immigrants compared to our awesome assimilation here is the standard neocon line. Europe sucks, they're the real racists, we've got immigration under control because we're so great and accepting, plus we have jobs and less welfare.
